Last 2008 Post/Bag Lady

HAPPY NEW YEAR/FELIZ ANOS NUEVO
I've been working on my Spanish. My orginal goal was to have the language down pact before the year came to an end. However, since I'm faced with less than three hours until the new year, that's a resolution that'll unfortunately have to continue on down to 2009, I have learned a lot already though thanks to amazing friends, profusely working in customer service, Rosetta Stone, and oh so dramatic yet addictive novuelas- mi espanol will be peeeeerfecto in no time ;)I should do a New Years post, regarding my resolutions and such (like posting everyday, giving up junk food,l and learning to use my sewing machine before the end of next month, among much other things) But I'm hanging with mi familia, Triple Black berry Smirnoff is calling my name and I'll get to that next year (heh, heh...love being able to use that)Photobucket

HEADSHOTS PLEASE...

I really, really need to get some headshots done. Upon answering casting calls, fashion show ads etc. I unhappily yet knowingly noticed that headshots were required. How is it possible that in many of my past photoshoots I've taken sooo many full body shots, and just completely disregarded necessary special treatment to my face? My darling friend is supposed to come today sooo we can take some headshots but unfortunately, due to the 'heck-tivity' of the season, this seems unlikely.
Don't get me wrong, Christmas is mi favorito holiday (I even enjoy it more than mi cumpleanos) However, it frustrates me how people become sooo wrapped up in the chores/errands/CHAOS of the season rather than focusing on the important things, the actual reason there is a Christmas in the first place; which is Jesus Christ. Christmas was originally meant to celebrate the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ, his life, he who has given us life. In addition, the reason we exchange gifts on this blessed day is in keeping with the act of the three wise men who bore gifts to God's son at his birth. Christmas is not supposed to be about gifts, overindulging, gluttony, bankruptcy, credit card debt, or crack head esque house cleaning, remember that on this day Christ Jesus was born sooo that we could be born again and have everlasting life with him. I'm not sure about everyone's faith and beliefs and I am not attempting to press mine upon anyone else but I think we can all agree that this fiasco that is Christmas has lost its meaning and has caused us to lose our minds. Jut recently, I realized the truth behind 'x-mas'...previously I presumed it was just an abbreviation for the looongevity of five whole letters extra ::give me a break:: Maybe for some it is, however, it's called CHRISTmas for a reason, how can you just take Christ out of his own holiday? That's like people celebrating your birthday without you: everyone is eating cake and ice cream, opening presents and singing songs but you're just in the corner, no one's even thinking about you...tsk, tsk.
However, as aforementioned, I LOVE Christmas. I love how everyone is sooo nice and cheerful. Even the old man who stands in front of the Shell station, muttering obscenities under his breath everyday, greets you with a smile, simply because it's that time of year! A lot of fellow fashionistas have made a Christmas wishlist of all the fabulousities their chic hearts desire this year. However, while there are many treasures I hope to acquire these and definitely a few of these (can't decide which ones, maybe this one esp. because it's so risque, and not something I'd usually wear and my boyfriend would diiiiiie of joy...

I must thank many chicks with fashion blogs for introducing me to American Apparrel...previously I was unaware of it's beauty and wonder and now I'm in serious lust and in need of everything it posesses.

OLDiES ARE ALWAYS GOODiES

Well maybe not always...like as far as old boyfriends, matching denim, and glitter, glitter everything (well I still kinda like that, sshhh)...some oldies should remain old and never again rear their ugly heads...however...these five year old, almost khaki but not quite, almost salmon colored zippered cargos with shackled ankle straps...aahhh i love them...they're sooo comfortable and...slouchy??? Like if I had to I could sooo sleep in them. I love how regular yet detailed they are.
At first glance they appear to be regular cargos and then you take a closer look and WHAM...you're hit with ambiguosly strewn zippers, at least seven diff. pockets and the ankle detailing...::sigh:: if I were a pair of pants, I wouls surely marry these...and to think, my mother (the queen of all that is simple) picked 'em out...at Wet Seal to be exact- the land of all that is trendy. Well actually...may I take this time to kindly stick up for Wet Seal??? Because everyone is always knocking it for it's 'trendyrifficness' but honestly, everyone knows that even the trendiest of items can be turned into the most unpredictable, almost avant garde look with the right complements...and c'mon, Wet Seal has GREAT finds for a GREAT price...Hello shopping spree... Because of the detailing in my pants I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit pretty simple, but me being me- simple is simply not an option, even when I try. Sooo I decided to take a black, open front blouse, turn it backwards, throw in a strapless bra for good measure and BAM--comfortable/cool and simple...well as simple as I'm gonna get... also...many times I wear tops with high necklines I feel the need to wear my hair up, it adds an extra ounce of interest to the look. If you're shoulders and chest are completely covered, why add extra coverage by putting your hair there too??? If your body is already all covered up, you can't dare cover your face as well Dahling...this isn't Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan now...

Dan is the man

I've been dying to try out the oh-so-sophisticated 'menswear' style for quite some time now. However, until about two months later than the rest of the world- I never did. But when I picked up this month's issue of Harpar's Bazaar and saw the ever fabolous Victorica Beckham rockin' the look with that natural sensationality of hers...I knew my take on the classic style was long overdue... These beautiful blue pants are sooo comfortable, despite that they're about two sizes too big now. I've been meaning to tailor the bottoms to convert the flared leg into a sort of pipe drain shape instead, but skinny jeans are everywhere and I decided that in keeping with the laid back male style, I'd stay classic and show a little throwback love to the flared leg...once upon a time it was just as big as the skinny jean, ya know...

This 2/4 sleeved black/white striped shirt was the perfect top to add a little spark to the otherwise pretty basic ensemble. Okay, I lied- the bright blue pants lent a hand as well...I can't escape color and print no matter how hard I try, they're forever a part of meeh! These shiny, patened one strapped Mary Janes provided the perfect feminine take on the patent leather penny loafer that usually completes this androgynous look. And of course, much like every other young woman in the world- I'm loving my perfectly tailored black blazer- despite the name (mine is Ann Taylor) or specific cut, it's the must-have piece for fall, it just seems to perfectly complete any casual look, instantly taking it from everyday to sophisticated.

ME0W

Lately, due to the stress of Finals week, all I've had the desire to do is curl up with a good book and nestle under the covers with my pup. However, since that's not an option, my best bet was to try and create an outfit that was as 'in-bed' comfy as possible while leaving the slippers and flannel at home.
I've seen cheetah print tights worn sooo many different ways, most commonly with long tees, flats and overteased hair= 'emo' look. However, I knew their value exceeded much more than an alternative to leggings thrown into a trendy esque, attempt at rebellious style. Instead, I was delighted to see that this outfit I thought up in church the other day (go figure) worked perfectly as a comfortable, unrestricting collabo, sprinkled with a little bit of funk via the cheetah print tights. All day I was overcome with the desire to sit indian style in all of my seats...::sigh:: I could use a nap...In other news, bad news to be exact- I decided to curl my hair, all over- thought it would be sooo cute and add a playful feel to my look. However, the evil bipolar weather of Southern Cali had a different agenda: The first day in weeks I actually decide to take the time and style my hair to perfection, my curls were gone with the wind the instant I stepped out the door.
On a lighter note, this mixture of brown, deep red, and cream had me feeling very Fall; what a calming color pallete for such a beautiful, relaxing season, yes?

Peace Easy Breezy

Sooo I went to the museum; the Norton Museum of Science to be exact (i think) in Pasadena for my Art 102 class... It was BEAUTIFUL, I hadn't been to a museum since I was a kid and I can't wait to go again, specifically I'd like to visit the Museum of Tolerence...sooo much history there, it'd be a great experience. Surprisingly, I'm really falling hard for Art...it is sooo beautiful, innovative and deep; and the fact that I can now differentiate Baroque art to Impressionism and recite the works of some of the most famous Renaissance artists makes meeh feel pretty aristocratic...my nose has raised higher into the air...

(Downtown LA dress, Hot Topic fingerless gloves, Peace bandanna was a gift, Downtown LA shoes, Downtown LA earrings)

This painting "The Scream" by Edward Munch really touched meeh. We all have those moments where we just wanna run off and SCREAM. This piece spoke volumes to my soul; you can see feelings of anguish, anxiety, stress, and a state of overwhelm in just that one expression. WOW. Sadly, this picture does not do the piece justice; in the actual painting, the colors are sooo vibrant and bold that the entire piece embodies the intesity of the work. I feel it...deeply. A large, laminated version of this painting is on my Christmas list. It actually inspired meeh to create a collage with all the different things, feelings, and emotions that make meeh scream...however, due to finals week, it has yet to be completed... I had been waiting to wear this dress for quite sometime. Immediately upon spotting it during one of my Fashion District sprees, I fell in love; first with the color (my faaavorite) and the style. It seemed sophisticated in style but the bright color mixed with the oversized buttons gave it edge. At first I was going to wear the dress with tights but then realized how 'un-chic' that looked given the dress's length sooo I decided just to bare leg it, it was a pretty nice day after all and I wanna revel in the last hints of summer as long as possible. Given the dress's simplicity I took advantage of it and decided to add some retro flair...I had the peace bandanna as well as the gloves for at least a few months and had never used them. However, on a sad note: the yellow t-straps were cute, minus comfortable :( ..And yes, incase you're just now noticing, I ALWAYS wear two diff. earrings...basically just because it adds unique flavor to any ensemble whether it be conservative or casual, it's has kind of become my trademark. If I ever, which is almost never, wear two of the same earrings, my friends freak out, which then leads meeh to change it, much to their dismay, haha. Often times people will come up to me and tell meeh I'm wearing two different earrings and dependng on my mood I'll sometimes answer with "Oh my gosh, are you serious? No way! Oh crap!" or sometime people will say "I like your earrings er, earring" and then point out the one they like which usually becomes both. Also, I actually have a science to how I choose which two to wear too (wow I just used all three forms of that word)...heh, I know: I'm a strangeling...
Yes, on my cellefono screensaver-that is indeed a picture of meeh as the president...

PEEEACE FROM THA EAST

I swear I was one of the first people to start the hippie trend (aside from Nicole Riche and Mary Kate Olsen) and now (well actually for awhile now...hee hee) its been EVERYWHERE n I LOOOOVE it. The whole laid back, free spirited, make love not war thing is def. right up my alley....if only it wasn't such a flippin' treeeend... grrr...anwho...good news: the fun is def. not over...look forward to new hippie trends from Miss Sixty and others coming in 2009...cant wait. Maybe now since the whole hippie thing is sooo mainstream you'll all join meeh in being vegetarian??? Si??? Peace should include the animals as well guys...hmph, you should think about that...haha (not really kiddin')Photo Credit: Fashion Daily

I looove the vintage dress on the far left, I wish the belt was brown because the big, black, grunge looking one def. takes away from the femininity and softness of the look or maybe we could've went even a little bit more boheiman, lost the belt altogether and just kept the waist loose and flowy to create more of a shift look for the dress.

I looove the Miss Sixty runway for 2009. The middle look is sooo inspiring and I will def. be acting upon it....and I looove the way the model is rockin' the beanie in the first look...sooo hippie meets grunge and the bellbottoms ::sigh::...okay...I LOOOVE IT ALL...I'll stop now...

(Zizibeh mint green top, retro tie-dye tights/spandex(???)from Wet Seal, Downtown LA fuschia beads, Dowtown LA purple granite bangle, Downtown LA earrings/headband, White MJ flats from Wet Seal)
Sooo naturally I fell in looove with these spandex/tights pants thingies (what is the proper name for these stretchy thingies anyway???) b/c I loooved the colors and the material seemed sooo comfortable. However (grrr) much to my dismay, I bought these puppies in a medium instead of a small and I couldn't even walk at a decent pace without exposing my cheekies...grrr...kinda killed the look for meeh a smidge. Also...upon buying them...my gorgeous younger cousin goes "Oh, I love those, I wish I had the confidence to wear them." I sooo wanted to beat her...wtfun...there is no reason to be inconfident...that goes for everyone. In the words of James Blunt-You're beautiful (its true :) ) And trust meeh Doll...as long as you know that...everyone else will catch on

I should probably formally apoligize for the sometimes sucky quality of my pictures now...ha... well i'm suuuper busy 98% of the time sooo I try to hurry and snap my fliccs in the AM before I get into my daily hustle/bustle and miss the oppurtunity...sooo most of them are taken in my not so picture esque front yard...eh...love it anyway por favor...

SHUUUUUTUP

Okay sooo this guy, he's 10+ years my senior, seems koo...and sooo I ask him to check out this textbook for meeh because not only do I not own the class textbook, I no longer own a school ID card either and am not currently interested in spending twelve bucks on a new one when people can just check the stuff out for meeh (but if I knew what I was getting myself into I would've sooo spent the money instead) Sooo this foo checks the book out for meeh and we talk and he's pretty funny (but cusses a lot which I despise) and everyone who's anyone knows that if you can make meeh laugh, I may accidently slip you my heart. Sooo yeah...all good...whatev. Somehow I end up giving this kat my number because he seems kool and I'm always down for meeting new peeps but today he was all suuuper weird: He kept asking me to send him pictures of meeh and for some ridiculous reason he decides to send meeh a picture of his train. ::GASP:: And I'm like "Ew...you almost broke my phone." And he had the nerve to call meeh a little girl and a preteen just because I threw up instead of drooled at his member. How flippin' disrespectful, yes??? Sooo in sooo many words-we're done...that friendship that almost could, never did and I am sooo okay with that. In less than a day in a half he:
  • Told meeh I needed to gain 10-15lbs (Something about a 3pt system-face, ya know...t & a...I only had one pt supposedly...cry me a river)

  • Said I was too cute (is it the Hello Kitty obsession???)

  • Accused me of lying about my age ("Awww...you look like a baby"...well Mr. Senior Citizen...compared to you I am a BABY)

  • He said I remind him of Cyndi Lauper (Uh...IDK)

Sooo I didn't know who Cyndi Lauper was...I mean I heard the whole "Time after Time" and "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" (My theme song btw...j/j) but after her remake of "True Colors" I decided to kinda hate her...but despite all that I've never seen her...well, until now...

Okay...I COMPLETELY take back the hating Cyndi Lauper thing...I'm actually low key in love with her random, quirky, unpredictable style which [like o-m-g] is rather reminiscent to mine. I love how that striped cardigan compliments the vintage dress. Loooves it...and the platinum blonde hair just tops it all off! CUUUTE. Ha. Sooo there you have it...the mystery is solved...thanks for the compliment, senior citizen pervy guy...but pleeease, for the love of God (and meeh) keep your train on the track and dismiss any and all thoughts of ever riding through my tunnell; ha-sorry for the train analogies but seriously...iim still reeeling... (Bitten pleather [never leather] jacket, Hello kitty tee, Black skinnies, purple zebra print bandanna, black and white high top Converse, fuschia beaded necklace, Downtown LA aviators, thin black belt, white triangle shaped bracelet from Wet Seal)
