CheetahLicious

For the longest of longs I have always longed to mix prints (hee hee, just used long 3x). However, I had always been wary of it because I didn't quite get the science/formula behind the whole different prints/one unit deal. For some enviable reason unknown to me however, editorials regulary feature all-across-the-board, what-the-heck mixed print looks flawlessly and I swear, if one were to attempt the exact same look piece for piece, instead of achieving amazingness in fabric form, we'd likely only accomplish a mess of mixed emotions rather than an array of maginificently mixed printage (assuming printage is a real word of course).

Cheetahs are, hands down, my absolute favorite animal! They are astonishingly beautiful and the fastest animal in the world to boot! I would trade my car in for one in a heartbeat, talk about riding in style ;)

Show N Tell

In person, this tee is 'hurt-your-eyes' bright (freeakin looooove it) and this look later reminded me of slime or green ooze in alley sewers. I love bright, neon, translucent colors; will definitely be incorporating more this fall!
(sunnies- randomly found in room and tragically lost the same day, tee and 'cobwebby' tights- f21, shredded skull tights- hmmm??, black hi top chuck taylors)

I love making collages, it's a beautiful way to display art and exhibit emotion. I made this collage to maintain focus and channel inspiration as a model. Photobucket

Betsey Johnson Spring 2010 RTW

In true Betsey Johnson fashion, the Fall RTW collection was full of intricate, eccentricities one would only expect to see in the fabulous, fierce, fairy tale world of Betseyville! With pretty-meets-punky pleating, surprisingly sweet patterns, and sirening signature cheetah print, I found myself flipping through the looks over and over again, never tiring of the collection's bold, edgy, yet sweetly feminine array of pieces.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
I enjoyed the understated pieces such as the black, flared leg pantsuit which is the perfect twist on the menswear trend, loved how it was amped up with a bright, uber ruffly blouse that could easily stand alone as a statement piece itself. The red/white Japanese reminiscent cropped pantsuit was a pleasant contrast to Betsey's usually over stated pieces and I'd love to accompany it with a pair of Doc Martens!
PhotobucketPhotobucket
Of course, however, my favorite pieces have to be the cheetah print, all of it! I love the combination of bold, bright colors in a just-as-bold print; especially the turquoise and yellow tulle detail dress, totally me in dress form! Another cheetah print stunner was the muted blue bubble hemmed dress, it'd be just as stunning in Chuck Taylors and a motorcycle jacket as it would in stiletto ankle boots!
PhotobucketPhotobucket
I'd be lying, however, if I claimed to adore the entire collection. The school girl esque look with ruffled bloomers and hot pink over sized bow felt very random in keeping with the other looks; and while I adore the over sized bow (reminds me of Hello Kitty, surprise) the look felt very costumey, forced, and trend-tastic. I must also say that the pink, jewel toned ruffled cocktail dress was a miss; the combination of the bright color and the ruffly overload appeared rather cheap to me; and I'm not sure if it was the hair accessory or the model's pose, but this look seriously reminded me of a heavily made up saloon girl.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
All in all though, this collection delivered ecstatically; perfectly perfecting my everlasting obsession with cheetah print, bright colors, and tulle! I wouldn't expect anything less from the iconic Betsey, I think I may start referring to her as bestie (besty) actually, because yeah, I love her that much!

TechniColor Kid

I've recently adopted the belief that hair is much better (meaning: more sensual, mature, intriguing, and sexy) in short form; love, love, loving it! Man, I feel like a woman! Lately, when I hop outta bed I don't even have to turn my swag on, it seems to never really turn off.

Forever Young

Everyone said the same thing to me when I bought this amazing, over sized, Hello Kitty (not Minnie Mouse!) bow as when I purchased my tutu; "Dannie, where/how are you going to wear that?!" Anyway I want of course! I absolutely adore over sized, bold, and outrageous pieces; it's sooo much more fun and freeing wearing a big bow and unapologetically geeky glasses than a dainty necklace and sensible earrings could ever be! Dressing a little more eccentric than usual serves as an instant mood lifter and feel-good endorphin releaser, dress fun= have fun!

Sooo I've recently become more active on Chictopia and entered the Forever 21 Back to School contest where you're judged on personal style, incorporating F21 merch, and relating to the back-to-school theme for a prize of 250, 150, or 100 dollar F21 giftcard...billions of incredible, lust-to-death worthy pieces dance before my eyes, mmmm..

Being that both my bow and dress were from F21 and could easily be interperted as school girl esque, I knew they'd be the cutest couple for a fun, school girl look! I got my specs at Buffalo Exchange in SF earlier this season and I think they added the perfect amount of chic and geek.

Lastly, if you..ya know, uh..like my look or whatever, then you can like...vote for it and stuff on Chictopia, if you want... I mean, if you think it's cool or whatever, or don't, you know, nothin' personal, it's all g-double o-d good...hahaha

P.S-Yep, I changed my hair again! I've never been a redhead and it makes me feel rather poison ivy-ish and slightly sex kittenish, heehee, maybe redheads have more fun; it's beginning to seem that way.

Dress to Express

Japanese street fashion inspires me in a way other street fashion cultures just simply cannot. Upon viewing tulle-upon-color-upon-graphic-upon endless accessories, my inner anime girl is unleashed and I'm suddenly overcome with a euphoria that one can only experience by playing dress up, letting your creative juices flow, and allowing your imagination to run wild.
Japanese street fashion is so eccentric, unique, and fun;
it's more about expressing yourself and your spirit rather than being perfectly chic and pulled together.
Regardless of what the piece may be, get dressed with your heart and you can pull off anything! Embody the look, don't allow it to embody you.
Fashion is supposed to be fun, step into your closet
and let your imagination soar!
...and speaking of Japan, Julie has a great blog about living in Japan, its culture, fashion, and even gourmet; so happy to have made an overseas friend, maybe I won't have to live on the streets of Tokyo afterall when I spontaneously hop on a boat and head to which is increasingly becoming my land of dreams...

Movin' On Up

Sooo I went to San Francisco this summer for the first time and...
I ADORED, LOVED, and CHERISHED every moment of it; sooo much to the point that I'm seriously considering packing up and heading north this winter!
The main reason I love fashion so much is because it's a pure, beautiful form of self expression, it allows one to use their body as a canvas and say a million things about oneself without ever actually saying a word. San Francisco is a place where uniqueness and creativity seem to be celebrated and respected; I definitely want to be a part of that!
