When Black is Best

In these busy, dance filled days there are only a few occasions that can get me to wear something outside of total comfort clothing and Chuck Taylors. But in moments when I feel like utilizing more than the non casual side of my closet, a dress will sometimes make an appearance.This knee grazing, Breakfast at Tiffany's reminiscent dress from Zara was worn to a summer wedding. It is naturally a bit formal for my personal style, but its front pockets eased my casualness craving mind. 

Would it be shameful if I admitted getting these gloves at a Japanese dollar store? I was so excited to discover them there that I bought two pairs just to be sure I wasn't dreaming. 

This blush colored vest has been a favorite for a while; it's always great when a rather eccentric item turns out to be timeless. All that is missing is a succulent glass of wine, preferably from jjbuckley.com

I wore this dress on one of those nights where we had so much fun we, gasp, forgot to take photos. But I didn't want to just not capture the dress so it ended up happening much later, post late night festivities. 


I hope you can still grasp the idea of how simplistically beautiful this piece is. The sheer midriff panel and the netted floral detailing toward the hem make it absolutely intriguing.

Selifies and Shizz

You know those photos you just randomly take when you're out living life or whatever? You upload them onto your hardrive because your phones' run out of memory but you don't want the memories those photographs hold to run out too. Every now and then you glance at the some funny, some fun, mostly foolish pictures your iPhone captured and think one day you'll maybe print a couple, maybe upload a few to Facebook or whatever. Then one day you remember you have a blog and decide to start on the whole New Years resolution I'm-going-to-blog-regualrly thing a little early. You start looking through photos and have a good time recounting those meaningless moments previously captured and then stop and wonder if everybody else would too.

Indie

It's finally summer in San Francisco, indian summer to be percise. I don't know why they call it that but it basically means that its dress season, which is freakin' awesome because dresses, especially ones like these, seem to automatically make me feel even prettier and even happier, two of my favorite feelings.

This bright tangerine button down dresss imediately reminded of something Audrey or Twiggy would wear and the nipped waist and subtle flare add fun to the classic shape. I got this dress from a thrift store back home in Palmdale, the thrift stores there kind of rule a little because not many peeps know the treasure that is thrifting so I always find cool stuff that no one else appreciates. This dress was only like 6 bucks or something, maybe less, and since I love orange and leopard print together, the comfy little kicks were perfect, they added to the easy, cute but comfy vibe of the look.

What is in Other People's Minds is Not in My Mind

I see clothes differently than others, nothing is ever simple nor basic in my eyes, just unexplored. When wearing pieces that are meant to be pretty, I feel it is my duty to "unpretty" them and create a different feel. It would've been far too predictable and rather dull to pair the legendary Audrey Hepburn with a full 50's inspired swing skirt or even crisp tailored trousers (although I do like that last idea). My favorite pair of pants in all their bold, distressed and animal printed glory just clearly seemed like the more intriguing, perfectly contrasting choice. Although, I had to keep the pearls, that was pretty much a given.

I just recently watched Funny Face for the first time last week, during the SoCal flood, and I was a little distraught that absolutely no one pre warned me I was in for a musical. I must admit though, there's no one I'd rather see tap dance to corny music than Fred Astaire and the iconic Miss Hepburn. Chic Dreams

Sleep masks are a necessity...I own about five and I have to have one on in order to sleep comfortably; there have even been times where I've been forced to resort to one of my dad's old tube socks in order to recieve the proper shut eye.
As we know, Holly Golightly is the epitome of all that is classy, sophisticated, and effortlessly chic- what better way to get your REM on than in the glam sleep mask Miss Hepburn sported in Breakfast at Tiffany's??? And while this one is definitely gorgeous, it really seems as simple as a few bucks and a D.I.Y, yes??? We will see...
