Black Summer

When you don’t know what to wear, black is that loyal friend that always seems to have the answers, Chuck Taylors too.

I finally dared to wear this romper again after trying once before and having to change for fear of indecent exposure. It was a side boob, cleavage combination to shame some of today’s most provocative celebrities. What is the deal with pieces that are more like puzzles than clothing? Forcing you to become a seamstress in order to wear it and actually look like you’re wearing something. With the addition of a little bralette though, things came together.

I see so many great looks with girls in head scarves and I’m constantly saving them for inspiration but I never seem to get around to trying it. Now I know why. You’d think the turban thing would be perfect with my current hairstyle but it’s not as easy as it looks, at least not for me. Seriously, my arms grew sore from fatigue as I tried and tied til’ I almost died. So I’ll just simply rock mine headband style and continue to lust after all the savvy scarf scientists. 

I can’t believe summer is almost over, though in my triple digit degree town you’d never know it. In looking for just a few key pieces to refresh my closet a bit for fall, I found that Simons definitely has a great selection. I have a few obsessions already mounting, making me really excited for the upcoming season; though it’ll be summer here until at least October. Still, a girl can dream.

San Fran Summer

I love Summer and I'm so excited we're currently right dab in the middle! I do have all this anxiety though to make the most of every moment, spend as much time "out" as possible, and to wear lots of flashy, only borderline trashy stuff like barely there shorts and things like sequined tops with minimal fabric that,well, you simply can't get away with as easily in other seasons.

Summer is synonymous with fashion. Some of the best pieces known to man are infinite fashion staples, like halter/tank tops and mini shorts. Dare I say fashion is even at its most fun in the summertime? Yes, indeed I believe it is! Though, living in San Francisco calls for a few alterations..

Summer out here is a little darker, I suppose it has something to do with the barely even sixty degree temperature and the city's signature winds. Nevertheless, I find myself seriously into shorts right now, preferably colored denim and belted, even if I do have to layer them over (sheer) tights.  I've also really been drawn to oversized tees. These two pieces together make like thee bombest couple.

As a whole, despite the shady weather forecast and the fact that I have to layer in July, I've still got the summer spirit! Can I get a whoo hoo?! And it's not actually a bad thing that I can still legitimately rock my beloved ratty beanies and hobo flannels right now without risk of heat stroke.

SUUUUUUUPER SUMMER

Summer is and always has been my favorite! As each day turns to the next, I dread the day summer is officially over (not sure exactly which day that is and I don't want to know!) Before you know it, the sun will again settle down and school bells will once again be ringing; the natural euphoria one feels just upon waking up to bright, beautiful, sun shiny days will soon be gone; a definite tragedy in season form. However, being the glass-half-full kinda chick that I so seriously am, I intend on completely indulging in the few weeks of wonderful that I have left.

Summer has been:

Perfect thirst quenching Sonic Route 44 LemonBerry slushes. A newly discovered adoration for San Francisco. Amazing buys of breezy sundresses, long tanks, tie dyed heaven, and various, neato neon pieeces (just to name a few). Blissfully blazing with the bestie. Succulent sushi. Dancing, dancing, dancing! Absolutely adoring short hair! Blasting the AC and attracting stares while jammin' in my car. Ecstatically groovin' to Lil Wayne, Drake, various Reggaeton, Ne-Yo, and Dream. Procrastinating on summer math homework. Remembering and religiously bumpin' Michael Jackson. New, super sic' friends. Falling passionately in love with Lipton's Sparkling Green Tea. Being indescribably infatuated with sugar free Redbull. Laughing until my abs burn while watching The Office DVDs after 12AM. Crazy summer night walk and talks with the favorite cousin. Expanding my Spanish vocab, and remixing lots of my old clothes with new ones to create masterpieces!

Summer Will Be:

Universal City Walk club scene. Six Flags! Beach, beach, beach! Skinny dipping after dark. More sushi! My first American Apparel buy (neeeeeeding this). Vegas! Sunnies shopping spree in Downtown LA. Lil Wayne/Drake concert! Another much needed trip to San Francisco (may come back, but probably won't) and many other magical things that can only take place in the suuuuuper season that is SUMMER ;)))

What's a girl to do when not one, but two, of her cameras suffered tragic tripod accidents rendering both of them useless. Why, bust out the camera phone of course! That's what it's for right? You know- cheesy, goofily posed, poor quality bathroom pics...

In other news, I'd like to make an announcement that I am officially obsessed with tie-dye for my upcoming, favorite season :))) Tie-dye screams easy, breezy, carefree, summer lust; taking impromptu roadtrips to random house parties, slurping on ginormous 7-11 slurpies while sticking your feet out the car window so your popsicle-bright colored self-pedi dries faster! Ahhh...summer...sooo EXCITED!!! I can hear the beach waves crashing into me, haha.

What my summer is going to look like:

• Big, floppy, movie star hats
• Tie dyed: shorts, tops long enough to be mini dresses, oversized tanks, body con dresses, flowy maxi dresses (tie dye EVERYTHING damn it)
• Body chains w/ long tanks
• Big round sunnies, aviators, heart shaped shades, and wayfarers a reflective pair included (they grew on me)
• Distressed denim shorts/boyfriend shorts
• Neon: tights, oversized tanks/tunics, tube tops
• More rompers
• AA (I don't have ANY and there are sooo many things I've been salivating over)
• Cropped tops and high waisted bottoms
• Bright, electric nailpolish
• Vera Wang turban
