Love in the Form of Season

There's just something so romantic and decadent about spring time. Soft layers, whimsical tulle, and illustrious ruffles beckon one to frolic in a garden of exquisite floral. Beautiful, serene pastels and intriguing, sensual palettes of rich wines, deep creams, and refined neutrals bestow a confident calm; as if strolling through a dream. Spring is easily the best time to be a girl, ushering in a whirl of ethereal textures that leave you feeling like nothing less than a glittering, prim princess.

Spring Fever

I want you, I need you, oh Baby, oh Baby..

Hi spring!

Photobucket
These photos reign from circa 08, back when I still had patience for my tripod. They remind me of a Teen Vogue editorial because of how bouncy and random my poses are, and I love that because Teen Vogue editorials are my absolute favorite!
The floral leggings are definitely still my main squeeze, embarrasingly enough I'm wearing them right now. It's safe to say floral print is absolutely classic; it complements every style, with the effortless ability to be dressed up or down. My favorite floral look is a pairing with distressed denim and lace. Ooh, I'm so happy for spring, so funny how I never paid so much attention to seasons before I started this blog.

Spring is the Thing

I admit, we aren't having the best spring over here in So Cali but being that I have recently taken up yoga (loooove) and have made a decision to live optimistically; I have discovered the rainbow behind the storm that is Santa Ana winds, random rain, and tempermental sunlight ;)))))

Look at it this way, we now have extra time to wear our knit caps and beanies, as well as our blazers! Our tights and leggings aren't overheating our legs yet; and light sweaters are still practical and uber versatile! Isn't this great news?! Say it with me "Spring is the Thing!" :)))

Back to the Future

Does the weather of a season always tend to remind you of that of the previous year??? Yeah, it does for meeh too. Waking up to the same breezy sunshine; my many shades of pink, silver encrusted curtains casting a bright, florescent hue to my entire room...a satisfying sense of deja vu washes over me.
Last spring I was all about 'hippie' style, i.e: peace sign everything, flowy this, oversized that, scarves as headbands, the whole she-bang. I remember it just feeling right. The weather, the clothing- accentuated my casual, laid back, sleepily happy, spring like persona perfectly!

And with all the recent ravenous talk of Balmain's rock 'n roll inspired spring runway, methinks this season's trend is slowly but surely reverting once again back to the days of hazy euphoria and contented bliss, dancing under the stars and partying like it's 1982. I'm excited to buy a big bottle of Clorox bleach and reincarnate some of my old favorites into new favorites with the help of a good seam ripper, a bathtub of bleach, and my trusty fabric shears.

Currently feeling: pale colored hoodies, acid wash, distressed denim, nuetrals (x1000-sooo yum right now), low top sneakers, long stretch v necks, simple, midriff bearing tanks, sheer, flowy sundresses, understated florals, and sun bleached, wavy locks...

I've dug up a few looks from this time last year when I would've given anything for a vintage record player, a beautiful glass bong, and a road trip to nowhere, dippin' in one of these; I'm dying to buy one btw ;)))

Grunge Lunge

As I have previously stated, I am/was currently infatuated with grunge (I'm slowly making my way into brights as of late, due to the sudden amazing weather change :DDDD) Don't you love those times when the weather is either really hot or in the case of this outfit, really freakin' cold and you wear the exact, perfect amount of layers and you're sooo comfortable??? This was one of those times and as I stood in the parking lot, hair blowing wildly in the wind, yet warm as hot chocolate, I silently thanked God for thick knits; yeesss!!!

Nevertheless, as much as I love to be bundled in warmth; I am SOOO happy it's over ::currently welcoming S(s?)pring with open arms:: Honestly, you have no idea! I have this issue (a.k.a anemia) where in cold weather I freeeeze, like chilled-to-the-bone freeze; and sooo when I stepped outside this morning to walk Dolce and was greeted with extreme warmth I had to bust out a little happy dance on the porch- the next door neighbor stared at me like I was a strange-ling as he loaded his eight kids into the mini van, he's freakin' octo-pop and he thinks I'm the one with issues???

please say tha baby...

"...yes, im the best
and no i ain't positive, im definite
i know the game like im reffin' it..."
-"I'm Me", Lil' Wayne
This may sound silly to some but I revel in the fact that not only was Lil' Wayne the first rapper I ever listened to (before that I was all about Spice Girls, Hanson, and BSB-howiiiie yowiiiiie ;) ) but 'Tha Block is Hot' was the first cd I ever purchased, way back in 11/02/1999 (ironically, mi cumpleanos ;)))) However, how annoying is it when something you've authentically cared about since day one becomes a mindless trend; and all of a sudden people who never before cared anything about something before, are absolutely obsessed with it? Doesn't it even kind of make you not want to like it, or publicly declare that you were an orignal fan from the start??? Before the wannabes came in and murdered it...grrr...
I kinda love Hot Topic...a couple of my current favorite pieces were purchased there. When I went in the other day and saw this shirt though, I was so excited! I had always resented that you had to be a fan of The Clash, Strokes, or Nirvana in order to score a t-shirt reppin' your favorite band/artist. However, everything changed that faithful day, and to add the cherry to the already amazing sundae- the shirt was bright and feminine- neon colors, perfect for the upcoming season, haha- a match made in hip hop heaven! In addition, although I could never date Mister Weezy F, having him all over my body quiets the internal storm...wow, that was a little much-
...blame hip hop.

His metaphors and clever word play slay meeh. His originality.. The way his odd, other wordly, yet intelligent sense of humor drips onto the track with eccentric perfection...yuuum-

L is for LOVE

Luella is one of my absolute favorite designers and I am soooo painstakingly in L-O-V-E with Luella's Spring collection. It reminded me of why I fell in love with Luella in the first place. I love how Luella takes simple shapes and puts an interesting, unexpected, often eccentric twist on them. Always posh but never stuffy. From the colors to the sillohuettes, to the accents and detail--oh my, it's just too amazing!!! The line is very reminiscent of vintage UK au pair in all the right ways. The playful, volumnious sillohuettes, the soft yet vibrant color schemes and the genius shapes and detail make for such fun and romance, just in time for V Day... ::sigh::

(a) I would die to wear this on Valentine's day, it's the perfect dress for the ocassion. The soft pinks combined with the ruched fabric are so romantic and elegant; and the one sleeve is absolute genius! I love, love love it. Everything is just so perfect! I love the twisted detail of the chest area and the tiered design of the dress's hem.
(b)Oh so romantic and soft, it makes me want to skip through a garden and gaze longingly into a fountain. The loose fit of the ruffle encrusted top work surprisingly well with this adorable, volumnious skirt. I love the ruffles in both and am thinking that's what allows the pieces to vibe so well together; not to mention the soft glow the fusion of lilac and pretty pink give the already beautiful look. This skirt is hands down amazing...it would be so fun to wear...pretty, pretty princess...

(c)I love that I already have a dress similar to this one because this look is so inspiring. Part of what makes Luella so well, Luella is the simplicity pallet their pieces play on and how they always swoop in with eye catching detail. I adore these layered upon layered pearls, they add just the right amount of punch to complete Luella's signature intrigue. And the veil, oh the amazing beyond words veil, just stop...

(d)I love this color scheme! I would have never thought of paring purple and orange together for this season but it works so well. I felt faint at the sight of this gorgeous dress, the ruffles are ridiculously fabulous, and the cinched bow at the waist completes the perfection, and despite the fact that the model is thin, the cut of this piece looks to be rather slimming, yes??? The coat adds such sophistication to the look...I love how it's hemline meets perfectly with that of the dress. However, what I am most excited about are the hand gloves, they're so dainty and romantic..my mind can't help but think of the legendary Miss Audrey Hepburn. How adorably chic! They're perfect with this look, they complete it so well...I must have hand gloves immediately!
(e)I have never been a big fan of wearing one color looks, it has always seemed so elementary/amatuer to me. However, of course, Luella makes it work in the most amazing of ways. Granted this may be a little too dramatic for some to wear to the office but I would love to do it. I love the business woman sophistication of the structered jacket; yet the zippers and endless ruffles give the look so much personality and pop. How weird yet perfect is this skirt, honestly, who would have thought that this would work so wondorously other than Luella???

(f)The floral print is so perfect for this little top, esp. combined with the small bows on either side of the shoulders, pure genius! It's so girly yet posh. The design on the skirt is beautiful and has just enough detail to make it Luella, without stealing the spotlight from the top. Needless to say, the chic handbag and punchy, vibrant hand gloves make this look too perfect beyond expression. In the words of Miss Rachel Zoe-I die...
